Common use
Poxet tablet is a medicine used to treat premature ejaculation in adult men. This medicine increases the time it takes to ejaculate and improves control over ejaculation. This helps to relieve the anxiety or frustration about fast ejaculation.
Dosage and direction
Poxet tablet belongs to a group of medicines known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). It may be taken with or without food. This medicine should only be taken if you have been diagnosed with premature ejaculation by a doctor. It is usually advised to be taken 1 to 3 hours before anticipated sexual activity. Do not take it more than once a day. Follow your doctor’s instructions while taking this medicine.
Precautions
Before taking Poxet tell your doctor or chemist if you are allergic to it; or if you have other allergies.
Inform your doctor or chemist if you have bipolar confusion, eye, liver or kidney problems.
Aged people can be more sensitive to side effects of the medicine.
Contraindications
Do not take Poxet tablet if you have heart problems (like heart failure or problems with the heart rhythm), or have ever had depression or mania, or are currently taking medicines for depression known as MAO inhibitors. Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have epilepsy (seizure disorder or fits), liver or kidney disease, glaucoma, or have had dizziness/fainting (syncope) due to low blood pressure in the past. These may affect your treatment.
Possible side effect
Some common side effects of this medicine include headache, dizziness, drowsiness, vomiting, nausea, indigestion, fatigue, increased sweating, and restlessness. Some people can develop erectile dysfunction with this medicine. Let your doctor know if any of the side effects persist or worry you.
Do not drive or do anything that requires focus (eg. working with heavy machinery) until you know how this medicine affects you, as some people can develop dizziness and sleepiness as side effects.
Drug interaction
Tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use before using this medication.
Poxet can interact with:
MAO inhibitors: Furazolidone, Isocarboxazid, Linezolid, Moclobemide Tranylcypromine, etc.
Antiarrhythmic drugs: Propafenone, Quinidine, etc.
Serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs): Desvenlafaxine, Duloxetine, Milnacipram, Venlafaxine.
Antipsychotics (also called neuroleptics): Fluphenazine, etc.
H2-receptor antagonists: Cimetidine, Ranitidine, Famotidine, Nizatidine, etc.
Missed dose
If you have missed your dose, take it as soon as you remember. If you see that it is near the time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take your dose twice.
Overdose
If you think you have used too much of this medicine seek emergency medical attention right away. The symptoms of overdose usually include chest pain, nausea, irregular heartbeat, and feeling light-headed or fainting.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not store your drugs in the bathroom. Keep all drugs away from reach of children and pets.
