Common use
Opticare Ointment (Cyclosporin) contains cyclosporine and is used to treat certain eye conditions. Cyclosporine is a polypeptide agent and is effective at treating either eye infections or cases of chronic dry eye. It works by stimulating the tear glands resulting in increased tear production. Treating these conditions reduces the risk of eye tissue scarring.
Dosage and direction
Strictly use Opticare Ointment (Cyclosporin) as advised by your doctor or any printed instructions supplied within the packaging. Apply the drops directly to the eye(s) which require treatment. Usually recommended 2 or 3 doses per day, but this can vary depending on the condition being treated and its severity. Results can usually be seen after 8 weeks of use. Always wash your hands before and after administering the medication to avoid contamination.
Precautions
Before you begin using this medication, ensure your physician is aware of the following: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding; If you have any allergies; If you have any other illnesses, disorders, or medical conditions; If you are using any other drugs or medication; If you are using any vitamins or supplements.

Opticare Ointment (Cyclosporin) is very well tolerated and when used properly there are no side effects which have been associated with the eye drop. If you do notice any allergic reaction, consult your doctor.
Drug interaction
Other eye ointments can interact with the active ingredient Cyclosporin. This includes prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you use.
Missed dose
Use the medicine as soon as you can. Do not use two doses at one time.
Overdose
An overdose of Cyclosporin ophthalmic is not expected to be dangerous. Seek emergency medical attention if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication.
Storage
Store this medicine at room temperature. Do not freeze. Keep away from children.
