Dosage and direction

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. You can take this medicine with or without food. Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet. Always take the recommended dose, don't exceed it without consulting your doctor. Don't stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first. It's crucial to complete the course for effective management of your condition.

Precautions

It's recommended to consult your doctor before taking this medicine during pregnancy. Your doctor can best advise if the benefits outweigh any potential risks.
Bone Diseases: Tenvir has been associated with decreases in bone mineral density. If you have a history of pathologic bone fracture or risk factors for bone loss, this could be problematic.

Contraindications

Tenvir is contraindicated in patients who have demonstrated hypersensitivity to any of the components of this medicine, special Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate.
Mothers receiving Tenvir tablet are advised not to breastfeed as the active ingredient may pass into breast milk and affect the baby.

Possible side effect

Taking Tenvir tablet can cause the following common side effects: Rash; Diarrhea; Headache; Pain; Depression; Nausea; Asthenia (This means abnormal physical weakness or lack of energy, which you may experience after taking this medicine).

Drug interaction

Medicines Eliminated by Active Tubular Secretion: Medications such as cidofovir, acyclovir, valacyclovir, ganciclovir, and valganciclovir may interact with Tenvir tablet. This may increase the concentration of either tenofovir or the co-administered medicine in your system.
Renal Function Reducing Medicines: Medicines that decrease renal function can increase concentrations of tenofovir. These could include certain types of diuretics like furosemide.
Adefovir, Dipivoxil: Do not administer Tenvir tablet with Hepsera (adefovir, dipivoxil), as it may lead to adverse reactions.

Missed dose

If you miss a dose of Tenvir tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Never double up on doses without consulting your doctor.

Overdose

In case you accidentally take more than the recommended dose of Tenvir tablet, you may experience symptoms such as headache, diarrhea, and nausea. If these symptoms persist, inform your doctor.

Storage
