Common use

Cephavet Dry Syrup is a broad spectrum antibiotic specifically used to treat a wide range of infections in cats and dogs, caused by a variety of susceptible bacteria. These include skin and soft tissue infections like infected wounds, abscesses, and lacerations. Cephavet Dry Syrup is also used to treat infections of the respiratory tract and urinary tract; also, infections of the bones and joints.

Dosage and direction

You should give your Cephavet Dry Syrup to your pet once or twice daily, preferably at the same time each day and with meals. The dose you give and how often, depends on what your pet is being treated for and your veterinarian’s recommendation, and is based on your pet’s body weight: The usual dose of Cephavet Dry Syrup for dogs and cats is 22-30 mg/kg (10-13.6 mg/lb).

Precautions

Inform your vet if the animal has kidney or liver problems, or is pregnant/lactating. Finish the entire prescribed treatment, even if symptoms improve, to prevent bacterial resistance.

Contraindications

Do not use if your pet is allergic to Cephalexin or other cephalosporins.

Possible side effect

Cephavet Dry Syrup for pets commonly causes mild digestive issues like vomiting, diarrhea, soft stools, and loss of appetite, but more serious signs like difficulty breathing, pale gums, or severe rash warrant immediate vet care as they suggest an allergic reaction.
