Common use
Cycrin is primarily used for a range of conditions related to the female reproductive system. These include amenorrhoea (absence of menstruation), abnormal uterine bleeding, and endometriosis (a condition in which tissue that usually lines the uterus grows outside the uterus). It belongs to the group of medicines known as progestins.
Dosage and direction
Take Cycrin tablet with a glass of water. Swallow the tablet as a whole; do not crush or chew it. This medication can be taken with or without food, but it is advisable to take it at a fixed time.
Precautions
Cycrin is not advised during pregnancy unless clearly necessary and only after consultation with your doctor. It should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are breastfeeding.
Patients with a history of depression, a history of thromboembolic disorders or strokes should use Cycrin with caution as it may worsen their condition.
Contraindications
Cycrin is contraindicated in patients with undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, as it may exacerbate the condition. It must not be used by individuals with known hypersensitivity to Medroxyprogesterone or any of its components.
Possible side effect
The common side effects of the Cycrin tablet include: Breast pain; Headache; Stomach or abdominal cramps; Bloating; Nausea; Vomiting; Constipation; Chest Pain; Hot Flashes; Vaginal discharge.
Drug interaction
Cycrin (Medroxyprogesterone) may interact with specific enzyme-inducing antiepileptic medicines (such as carbamazepine and phenobarbital, and phenytoin), antifungal agents (like fluconazole and itraconazole), and certain herbal products (such as St. John's wort).
Missed dose
If you forget to take the Cycrin tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If the time for the next dosage is close, skipping the missed one and resuming your regular dosage pattern is recommended. Only increase your dosage after consulting your doctor.
Overdose
If you or someone else takes an excessive Cycrin by accident, it is essential to get immediate medical attention from your doctor or nearby hospital. Signs of an overdose may include dizziness, tiredness, drowsiness, or sleepiness.
Storage
Store Cycrin tablet at 20-25 ºC. Keep the medicine away from the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed. Please protect it from light and moisture.
