Common use
Asthalin (Salbutamol) is primarily used to manage the symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It belongs to a class of medicines known as bronchodilators. In addition to these primary uses, this tablet is also used to prevent breathing problems that happen during exercise and may help with conditions like chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
Dosage and direction
Always take Asthalin as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Avoid crushing or chewing it. Do not take more than the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.
Precautions
Consult your doctor before using this medicine in pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
If you have certain health conditions, caution and medical advice are recommended before using this medication. These include gastric or peptic ulcers, sepsis, hypokalaemia (low potassium levels in the blood), and lactic acidosis (excess acid in the bloodstream). Individuals with liver or kidney diseases, particularly cirrhosis or hepatitis, should also seek medical guidance. Other conditions requiring caution include fluid accumulation in the lungs, heart problems, an overactive thyroid, and a history of seizures (fits). Drug interaction
Antihypertensive medications: Medications like atenolol and bisoprolol can decrease the effectiveness of Asthalin, making it less efficient in managing respiratory symptoms.

Bronchodilators: When medicines like theophylline are taken with Asthalin, they may lower potassium levels in the blood.
Missed dose
If you've missed taking a dose of Asthalin, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's close to the time for your next dose, simply skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Never double up on doses without consulting with your doctor.
Overdose
Accidentally taking too much of Asthalin might lead to overdose symptoms such as tremors, headaches, or an increase in heart rate. If you experience any such symptoms or suspect an overdose, contact your doctor.
