Common use

The main use of Triamcinolone is for the management of a wide variety of inflammatory and allergic conditions, including allergic rhinitis (hay fever), asthma, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, skin conditions like eczema and dermatitis, inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis, certain blood disorders and cancers, endocrine and hormonal disorders, as well as eye inflammation and allergies. It falls under the category of synthetic corticosteroid medications.

Dosage and direction

Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and duration of this medicine. Take it all in at once. It should not be chewed, crushed, or broken. Triamcinolone tablet should be consumed with food.

Precautions

Triamcinolone should only be used during pregnancy and lactation if clearly needed. It is always advised to consult with your doctor before using this medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Patients with liver or kidney disorders should take Triamcinolone with caution as it can affect the way the medicine is metabolised and excreted.
Individuals with tuberculosis, herpes infection or any other dormant infections should also use Triamcinolone with caution.

Contraindications

Triamcinolone is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergies to Triamcinolone or any component of its formulations. It should not be used in individuals with systemic fungal infections like candidiasis. Also, it is not recommended for patients receiving live or live-attenuated vaccines.

Possible side effect

Side effects of Triamcinolone: Headache or dizziness; Nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain; Muscle weakness or pain; Skin rashes, itching or dryness.

Drug interaction

Triamcinolone may interact with NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen and aspirin), diuretics (like furosemide), antibiotics (like rifampin), anticonvulsants (like phenytoin and phenobarbital) and immunosuppressants (like cyclosporine).

Missed dose

In case of a missed dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if the time for the next dose is near, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Overdosing on Triamcinolone may cause symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and gastrointestinal disturbances. If you observe these symptoms, consult your doctor immediately.

Storage

Store medication in its original container, keeping it tightly closed. Avoid exposing this medicine to excessive light, heat, or moisture. Keep it out of sight and reach of children.
