Common use
Flutivate Skin Cream is primarily used to manage various inflammatory and itchy skin conditions. This medicine belongs to a group of medications known as topical corticosteroids. In addition to its main purpose, it can also provide relief from symptoms associated with corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses, such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and other eczematous skin disorders where inflammation and itching are present.
Dosage and direction
Applying Flutivate Skin Cream involves the following steps: Ensure that the affected skin area is clean and dry before application. Apply a thin film of the cream to the affected areas once or twice daily and rub it in gently. If necessary, you can cover the treated area with a dressing after applying the cream. Wash your hands after using this cream, unless your hands are being treated. Stop using this cream once control over your symptoms is achieved or if no improvement is seen within 2 weeks; consult your doctor for further advice in such cases.
Precautions
Flutivate Skin Cream should only be used during pregnancy if the benefits justify the potential risks to the fetus. It is not known if Fluticasone is excreted in breast milk. Caution should be exercised when prescribing this medicine to breastfeeding women.
Patients with a history of glaucoma, cataracts, tuberculosis or herpes eye infection should exercise caution when using Flutivate Skin Cream. This medicine should be administered cautiously in patients with existing liver conditions due to its extensive metabolism in the liver.
Contraindications
Flutivate Skin Cream is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to fluticasone or any ingredients in the formulation. It should not be used by patients with untreated fungal, bacterial or tuberculous infections of the respiratory tract.
Possible side effect
Flutivate Skin Cream may cause the following side effects: Burning; Itching; Dryness; Excessive hair growth; Hypopigmentation.
Drug interaction
CYP3A4 inhibitors: Medicines such as ritonavir, atazanavir, clarithromycin, indinavir, itraconazole, nefazodone, nelfinavir, saquinavir, ketoconazole and telithromycin may increase the levels of Fluticasone propionate in your blood. This can potentially result in conditions like Cushing's syndrome and adrenal suppression.
Missed dose
If you forget to apply Flutivate Skin Cream, do it as soon as you remember. If it's nearing time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Never alter the dosage without consulting your doctor.
Overdose
If you accidentally apply more Flutivate Skin Cream than prescribed, you may experience increased skin dryness or irritation. If symptoms persist or worsen, inform your doctor without delay.
Storage
Keep the Flutivate Skin Cream in a cool and dry place, ideally not exceeding 25°C. Avoid placing it in the refrigerator or freezer. Ensure the tube is tightly closed when not in use. Store the cream out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion or application.
